So Thankful, Hoping to get Funded for 2026
Thanksgiving. A together time for family, some rest, good food, football, euchre or pinochle (or both … or other family time games), and hopefully some moments to reflect on and count your blessings during this time. I believe strongly in transparent leadership and being very efficient good stewards of the dollars we are blessed with. A few weeks ago we announced that our cash balance was under 3,000 and we had about 7,000 in bills to be paid. Giving in 2025 had been down significantly. It was not enjoyable to share this in the first month on the job; however, we serve a great God and we are truly blessed by a generous community.
I love golf, I love it most when I am in the red (under par). As an Executive Director at the Family Christian Dev’t Center we do NOT want to be in the red. The WaNee community and even folks outside of the community responded & blessed us financially and with in-kind donations of food & clothing for our guests we serve. The gifting has allowed FCDC to pay off the full balance of the line of credit and have money saved to finish the year & start 2026.
As we roll into December we now focus on end of year gifting. Businesses and individuals fund the community services offered by FCDC, not the government. As a school Principal or Teacher over the last 32 years I knew that there was a great deal of trust placed in me - parents drop their kids off and trust my teaching, coaching, leadership, decision making. Now as Executive Director there is still a great amount of trust placed in me. It is my prayer to raise funds to get the FCDC funded for 2026, not just a couple months into the new year and then right back to a line of credit. I have proposed over 40,000 in cost reductions for 2026 to the governing board members. I believe they will take action in December to support the reduction of operating costs. There is genuine leadership that intends to be good stewards and yet serve and continue the programs & the mission. I am always willing to meet and share these cost reductions, give you a tour, or just sit & talk or pray about your potential financial support of the FCDC. Will you be in the area / in the neighborhood in the near future? If so, please stop in and I or a member of our staff of 3 people will be so very glad to give you a tour, sit & visit, or just share data or stories about our work.
Again. Thank you - it has been a powerful 3 weeks! May God Bless you & yours this holiday season. Rest up & enjoy family time … the Christmas spirit is upon us. And with the Christmas season we pray that the end of year giving & financial donations will cover much of 2026. The need for our programs is real, I see it daily, see it especially on Tuesday’s & Thursday’s when the pantry & clothing closet are open to serve. More than 75% of the people we serve have jobs, they are just underemployed. Well more than 100 Thanksgiving meals have been shared this week.
Would you please consider monthly or quarterly financial support in 2026 or an end of year donation? Is your employer a company that will match what donation you make? Would you please network and help us ask those who can help us financially? Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas. God Bless. -Gregg Goewert, Executive Director, FCDC
